Winneshiek Farmers Are Behind with Planting
In Decorah on Sunday many farmers worked their fields taking advantage of a good corn planting day. It is estimated that only 10 to 15 percent of the crop is in the county soil and 10 to 15 percent more ground remains to be prepared. Small grain is in excellent condition and pastures have advanced rapidly. Small fruits are also showing well. Blossom time has been delayed by cool weather. A slightly larger pig crop is expected due to more sows being kept over, despite heavy farrowing losses from cold weather.
