Plagiarism Detectors Cut Misconduct at ISU and Peers
ISU reports a drop in academic misconduct from 115 cases two years ago to 74 this year, aided by Turnitin and similar tools used by thousands of colleges. UI uses Turnitin, with 750 professors and 14,000 students submitting about 20,000 papers this year. The system flags matches in its database and on the Internet, generating originality reports for instructors to verify citations.
