Rail yard relics turn into Stone City bookends
Gary Holzinger creates bookends from rails torn from the Milwaukee Road branch line that once ran through Stone City and nearby towns. Each 14 pound set sits on an Iowa oak base and includes a bronze plaque noting rail origin and dates. He will display and sell them at the Grant Wood Festival in Stone City on Sunday June 14 in the former Stone City schoolhouse community center.
