Unidentified body found in burned car at nature center

Clayton County Sheriff Verdean Dietrich and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation probe an unidentified body found Thursday afternoon in a burned-out car at Osborne Nature Center south of Elkader. The body’s sex and cause of death are unknown. investigators treat the scene as a crime scene while noting it may be an accidental smoking incident. The car location is near Highway 13 and a wildlife plantings area. it does not match a missing 82-year-old Iowa City man Frederick Breckner. For updates, call 363-7000 or 337-7000.

Democrats defeat alternative abortion ban in Senate vote

University of Iowa aims to boost undergrad teaching load
