New York stocks eased again on Friday as investors stayed on the sidelines amid a lack of direction. The Dow fell 0.28 to 936.06 with 829 declines and 943 advances among 1,664 issues. Amex volumes were 4.8 million.
Prices at Chicago stockyards show prime slaughter steers 34.75 to 35.50 per cwt with various grades up to 35.00. Des Moines reports mixed pork trade data and demand shifts, with several weight classes around 25 to 37 dollars, and diverse cuts including Boston butts and hams showing changes.
Prices steady on the Cedar Rapids hog market Saturday. Friday bulk deliv ery hogs 200 to 230 lbs fetch 17.50 to 18.00, sows 300 lbs down 14.75 to 15.25, butchers over 230 lbs priced lower per 10 lbs, packers discounts by weight. Sheep and poultry listed with lamb, ewe, and chicken prices. grain quotes include corn 1.35, soybeans 2.81, oats 0.70 delivered.
Senate reports show Bayh earned 44331 from speeches last year, outstripping his 42500 Senate salary. Muskie 40865 and Ribicoff 37800 follow, with Goldwater 30050 and Nelson 26069 also listed. Several files pending and a Stennis report due by midnight.
The Cedar Rapids Public Safety Commissioner said the city will apply for a 1972 Law Enforcement Assistance grant to fund 75 percent of salaries for 12 new officers to reach a 150 member force. The city would cover the rest and request federal support to cover 50 percent of 1972 salary raises, with details to be decided after grant timing and funding.

Daniel R. Bramow aged 19 of 2748 1 street SW was arrested Friday night by local police acting on a federal fugitive warrant. He was arraigned before Magistrate James Hodges, posted a 5000 dollar surety bond, and released. Officials say Bramow was indicted by a federal grand jury in Tucson Arizona on a bond default charge.
Reverend Hugh Dancer aged 43 sustained a broken heel after a fall from a ladder causing the cancellation of Sunday services at the Presbyterian church in Hazleton. He is hospitalized at St Luke's in Cedar Rapids where he receives treatment for his injuries.
A 17 month old boy named Kenneth Price was killed instantly in a two vehicle crash east of Nevada Iowa on U S 30. Five others were injured including Charles Price Ginger Price Evelyn Price Karen Price and Harold Staker. The Price car failed to stop at a county road intersection and all six occupants were thrown into a ditch and transported to area hospitals. Evelyn Price was sent to Ames hospital for further care.
Lance Cpl. William C. Maki, 22, died Tuesday at El Toro California from heart valve disease after illness during a recreational program. Born May 11 1949 in Taft California he moved to Montour in 1961 and later worked in Marshalltown after graduating South Tama High School. Survived by his parents a sister Kathleen and grandmother Eunice Cooper. Services are Monday at 2 p.m. in Harrison funeral home.
In Chicago a 130 pound Alaskan husky killed 4 month old Shenetta Cribbs by tossing her from its jaws after playing with the infant on a living room couch. Police said the mother briefly left the baby with an 11 year old neighbor. the sitter and the brother were away. The dog was impounded.
Waterloo banker John Kyle aged 56, longtime president of First Federal Savings and Loan, was killed when his car went out of control and struck a tree on a Waterloo street. Investigators released details of the fatal Friday crash.
Dr. Duane Carr, associate professor of chemistry, is elected president of the Coe college chapter of the American Association of University Professors for 1971 72. Other officers named are Dr. Paul Smith physics vice president Dr. James Larkin Spanish secretary and Dr. Ruth Siemer biology treasurer.
