City Auto Testing Backed by Commission
The Cedar Rapids traffic safety commission endorsed a proposed ordinance requiring motorists to undergo city run safety lane checks twice yearly for 50 cents per check. The measure aims to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and curb sporadic safety drives, with noncompliant motorists eventually routed to the safety lane or police court. The plan mirrors programs in Des Moines Evans ton and Denver and would require year‑round operation with staff and facilities.
