Cedar Rapids approves scaled stormwater fee plan with incentives
The Cedar Rapids City Council voted 9-0 to adopt a reform of stormwater fees shifting from flat charges to property based on impermeable surfaces. Large properties face higher bills while residential fees stay similar. A six year phase in and incentives for runoff reduction and nonprofit education aim to curb costs and boost water quality. The plan includes a $250,000 annual cost share for runoff projects and expands incentive programs for permeable surfaces and education efforts.
