Prairie dominates ECI meet with 12 event wins

Prairie captures 12 of 17 events and 117 points at the East Central Iowa conference track meet led by Dennis Lytle who ties the 100 yard dash record at 10.2 seconds and stars in multiple relays. Dean Zach sets a meet record by trimming the 180 yard low hurdles by two tenths.

Prairie and Linn-Mar shine in fresh soph relays meet

Readable lines show Prairie and Linn-Mar winning two fresh soph relay events. Individual event winners include Ron Romick in 120 yard highs and Dan Ketelson in pole vault. Benton and Regina feature top marks in shot put, discus, and sprints with Terry Dickens and Dave Waterman also placing in jumps.

Benton Community athlete Dave Waterman checked his long jump distance with Prairie teacher John Osland during East Central Iowa conference track action at Prairie on Tuesday. Waterman prevailed in the event.

Decorah defeated Kee High 3 0 at Decorah and will play Beckman of Dyersville next. Davenport Central routed Central Argyle 11 0 and must face the Benton Wash winner for a state bid at Mason City on May 25 26. Kennedy Hosts Girls District Golf Meet Friday

A girls high school district golf meet is set for Friday at Twin Pines with Kennedy as host. The event starts at 8 30 a.m. Defending champion Dubuque Wahlert and Kennedy lead the field alongside Ottumwa Ottumwa Walsh Keokuk Maquoketa West Branch plus medalists Molly Flynn Keota Robin Funk Dubuque Hempstead Frances Nemec Linn Mar and other sectional qualifiers.
