Henderson Ky AP six members of the Elliott Gibson family died in a tenant home fire near Poole twenty miles south of here. Victims were Gibson 31 his wife Mabel 29 three sons aged 17 months to 8 years and one daughter 4. Daughter Helen 10 escaped. Neighbors recovered the bodies as flames consumed the structure while Clay Conner 35 and his wife driving by found the girl on the porch crying for her mother.

A single union picket stood outside a south side meat and grocery cooperative store run by 600 district residents including six University of Chicago professors. The manager warned the entire membership would be called out if the picket did not withdraw, though clerks may join the union. the store disapproved of the AFL local involved.
