Hering defense seeks insanity in wife slaying case
In Muscatine County District Court opening arguments are set for May 25 for David L. Hering 43 of Stockton charged with first degree murder in the Aug 6 death of his wife Lisa 41. Defense cites insanity diminished capacity and diminished responsibility as factors at the time of the shooting. He also faces two counts each of attempted murder and child endangerment. The couple’s four children and two others were at the farm during the three hour standoff but unharmed.
