Judgment To Penick And Ford Modified By Court Of Appeals
The U.S. Court of Appeals adjusted a Cedar Rapids federal judgment for Penick and Ford from 17327.30 to 14658.09 while affirming the ruling. The case involved a machinery insurance claim for generator breakdown and extra electrical cost after an insulation test. The jury had awarded nearly the full amount sued for, and the appellate court reduced it by the cost to buy excess electricity.

Light Co Gets Power Contract At County Home
Linn county supervisors approve a five year contract with Iowa Electric Light and Power of Cedar Rapids to supply electricity at the Linn county home near Marion. Rates stay the same as Lincoln Electric, with expected small monthly saving after removing insurance and service charges. Last year’s cost was 508.57 dollars. A refrigeration building prompted revamping of the system as the firm lays a line north along highway 13, completing in about six weeks. County officials note state examiners warned of county stock in Lincoln Electric and the shares must be canceled.
