Defense seeks hearings on Watergate links to burglary case
The defense moves to conduct a hearing outside the jury to probe government misconduct related to the Watergate burglary investigation. They seek testimony from Hunt and Liddy and even potential testimony from President Nixon, arguing his involvement could taint evidence in Ellsberg’s case and raise liability questions for subpoena. The judge has not ruled on a full hearing and debates whether the government proved guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
