Insurance linked to air slaying In Reno crash
FBI traced a $50,000 plus life policy to a passenger who boarded the Reno to San Francisco flight shortly before it crashed killing 44. A revolver loaded with six spent cartridges was found in the wreckage and the pilot’s final radio recording spoke of being shot. Investigators unitedly probed whether the passenger fired on others aboard the plane.

Plane Crash Off Peru Kills Many As Child Is Rescued
An Argentine military transport with 49 aboard crashed into the Pacific near Peru. A badly injured girl was rescued on a beach by the Peruvian navy. Debris and an oil slick were seen two miles offshore. Survivors were uncertain. The crew numbered seven. most passengers were civilians.

Wind Lashes Cedar Rapids. Trees Down and Outages Plague Town
Strong winds up to 52 mph toppled trees and knocked out power across Cedar Rapids Friday evening. The hardest hit area was near Bever Park SE to Mt. Vernon Road, including a 1700 block Fourth Avenue SE wire strike. Iowa Electric Light and Power Co reports 35 linemen and 12 tree crews worked overnight to restore service, with the airport substation outage fixed within an hour.

West Union Hit As Winds Again Strike Iowa
A severe wind event struck Iowa with three tornadoes and gusts up to 85 mph causing property damage and injuries. In West Union a 4:15 p.m. Friday high wind flattened a horse barn at Fayette County fairground, knocked out power, and added to an extensive cleanup after a week of storms.
