MEDCO honors Legacy Manufacturing expansion project gains
Legacy Manufacturing, part of Weems Industries, wins the Professional Developers of Iowa award for a $10.4 million 133000 square foot expansion in the Marion Enterprise Center. The facility at 6509 Partners Ave will double Marion footprint and house future growth up to 320000 square feet. Mark Weems, Legacy president, says the move aims to repatriate manufacturing from Asia and create jobs. ELPLAST America to be initial occupant.

Grain Processing Corp in Muscatine finished an 83 million dollar dryer house replacing 11 coal fired dryers with natural gas. The project ran over budget due to extra environmental controls but is on schedule and fully operational. Emissions are reduced including sulfur dioxide and odor from grain drying.
