Massed Band Performances Set for May 17
More than 2,500 high school musicians will perform three massed band numbers at the Eastern Iowa Band Festival in Cedar Rapids. The 23rd annual event features a 10:30 a.m. downtown parade and a 4 p.m. Kingston stadium show with guest conductor Thomas C. Slattery. The program includes Burst of Trumpets, Big Four, and Days of Glory, plus Miss Eastern Iowa 1969 coronation.

Kaprow to lead University of Iowa Happening event
Allan Kaprow, father of the Happening art form, will lead a free open event at the University of Iowa as part of Arts and the Artist 1969 festival.
