Trio Captured An-Loop For Slot Robbery

Three Iowa City youths Dennis O'Brien 21 Francis Pooler 19 and Gail Pooler 21 were captured at 11 15 am Friday by Cedar Rapids Patrolman William Milke after a Cedar Rapids pursuit. They allegedly stole slot machines worth about 250 and dumped them in the Iowa River. They face Johnson County breaking and entering charges and may be linked to other beer tavern robberies.

Merrill to Leave Today for Round Trip British Hop

New York Dick Merrill plans a round trip transatlantic flight to the British Isles aboard a Lockheed Electra with two Pratt Whitney Wasp engines. Woman Drowns in Solon Cistern Visit Iowa City

Mrs. George Glasgow about 65 of Iowa City was found drowned in a cistern at Solon Friday afternoon. Fire Chief George Kaspar reported she was dead about 15 minutes before arrival after 5 pm. Artificial respiration failed. Coroner George Callahan investigates.
