Cedar Rapids plans large public art for Wellington Heights
Cedar Rapids aims to brighten the Wellington Heights area with a three quar ter mile street art project along 15th Street SE from First Avenue NE to Mount Vernon Road. Plans include a sidewalk mural curb extensions and bus shelter artwork funded at about 58000 using federal ARPA funds.

Public art call for 15th Street SE project in Wellington
The Public Art Commission seeks artists or teams with large scale public art and engagement experience. Submissions are due by 4 p.m. June 12, with review by a panel and final city vote. Selected artist will run two workshops this fall and install in early 2026, finishing by June 2027.

Linn-Mar bus crash leaves driver cited for failure to stop
Marion police say no students were injured when a Linn-Mar Community School District bus was struck by a red 2020 Kia Sorento at the 44th Street and 29th Avenue intersection around 2:50 p.m. Monday. The Kia driver, Kellee Drewelow of Marion, was treated on scene for non life threatening injuries and cited for failure to obey a traffic device.
