Clerk’s theft sentence includes apology in ad

A former Tama County Treasurer clerk, Diana Marie Vilek, 27, of Toledo, was ordered to buy a newspaper advertisement publicly apologizing for embezzling over 80 thousand dollars. She pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree theft and two counts of felonious misconduct in office, admitting theft of 50,494 dollars from 1985 to 1986 and 30,230 dollars from 1987 to 1988, and agreed to restitution and a lie detector test. She also must place an ad not exceeding 100 dollars in cost in local papers.
