Tornado toll rises in Oklahoma and Arkansas towns
Eastern Oklahoma suffered 26 deaths and about 200 injuries as multiple twisters struck Wilburton and Sapulpa and spread into Arkansas. In Menifee Arkansas a twister killed 24 and damaged 12 homes, two churches, the post office and high school as rescue teams worked in rain and darkness.

A drenching storm soaked most of Iowa with over five inches in some areas, causing lowland flooding along the Iowa River near Marshalltown. Marshalltown saw 4.23 inches of rain, with a 2 inch, one hour downpour and flooded basements.
