Chicago AP reports Wednesday livestock receipts 6,000 hogs 11,009 cattle and 3,000 sheep. Hog supplies were heavier than expected causing sellers to trim asking prices 50 cents to $1. Cattle ranged steady to weak on most types with bulls up 25 cents. woolled lambs steady and clipped lambs marginally higher.

Havens to Speak at YMB Meeting in Lincoln

Dwight Havens president of the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce will speak on Lets Do a Better Job at the Young Mens bureau meeting Thursday. Informal reports on the Iowa state Junior Chamber of Commerce convention are planned for dinner. A new trophy case displaying awards from the state convention last week has been installed at Chamber headquarters. Havens is a navy submarine veteran and 1936 University of Nebraska graduate. He is former commander of the Nebraska American Legion district and chairs the Nebraska state highway safety commission. He is also a district Boy Scouts commissioner.

Dubuque Slot Operators Fined for Gambling Devices

Four of six Dubuque club and tavern operators paid 500 fines after county and city authorities raided last Saturday. Cletus Pfiffner of Rex club Joseph Smith of Cycle club Cletus Meyer of Johnny's Place and Tony Grutz of Giesel's Springs tavern pled guilty before District Judge Milton Glenn.
