Cedar Rapids Roundup Includes Crashes Theft and Lectures
Two Cedar Rapids children were struck by cars in separate incidents Monday. Six year old Chandra Baack remained in fair condition at St Luke's after a skull fracture, and nine year old Aaron Holley was treated and released from St Luke's following a separate crash on 27th Street Drive SE. Police also reported a missing 800 camera from Coe College and a recovered boat and trailer dragged from an address on Ellis Boulevard NW. Coe College plans a talk by Rep. Harold Washington at Cherry Auditorium with a postlecture reception. Jaycees honored members at the Sheraton Inn, and Iowa Electric Light and Power declared quarterly dividends payable July 1. The piece also notes a royal christening attended by President Roosevelt as proxy for the Duke of Kent.

City Cachs again at odds on cleanup
The Cedar Rapids City Council refused a 45 day extension for the Cachs to clean up their property at 915 Second St SE, despite a court order. Fire Marshal Saunders noted slow progress after an initial 20 days as Mrs. Cach cited illness and restricted access for Booth to do the work. Mayor Canney warned the city may proceed with cleanup to avoid contempt.
