Car Hits Horses Hurling Teens to Hospital After Collision
Two boys from Delmar seriously cut and four others slightly hurt when an auto struck two horses on the Welton highway. William Foley and Lewis Kendall are in Clinton hospital with severe facial wounds. The group was en route from Maquoketa to DeWitt for a dance. A motorist halted to move horses from the road. Farm Home Burns Near Troy Mills
The ten room residence of Mr and Mrs Dale Baty three and a half miles southeast of Troy Mills was leveled by fire on Wednesday. Furniture was saved but basement canned goods were destroyed. Loss is estimated at three thousand dollars partly covered by insurance. Mrs Baty left the house briefly and found the attic afire as volunteers from Troy Mills arrived too late to save the structure.

Two Months Sentence For False Sale Of Magazines
William Cunningham 20 of Pennsylvania pled guilty to obtaining money under false pretenses by unauthorized magazine subscriptions. He was sentenced to two months in the county jail. Earl Dowler 50 of Vinton pled guilty to driving while intoxicated and received three months with commitment withheld until November 1. Dowler’s license was revoked.
