Master Sacker Lester Williams Shines In Cyclones Spring Game
Iowa State linebacker Lester Williams impressed in the spring game with three sacks and 12 tackles. The Jefferson High School product, at 5-foot-11 and 222 pounds, is seen as a potential all-Big 8 player if he refines fundamentals and discipline. Coach Criner and Ed Johnson praised his quickness and potential while noting room to grow. Williams plans to stay in Ames to work in the weight room and improve his bench press toward 325 to 350 pounds. Senior QB Dave Archer echoed optimism for a young, improving Cyclones team with more depth and speed on defense.
