Eisenhower and Monroe face closure for special programs
Superintendent Craig Currie recommended closing Eisenhower and Monroe elementary schools as attendance centers next year to house two Cedar Rapids Community School District special education programs. The plan saves about 93 000 dollars after costs and shifts nearly 500 students to other buildings with bus options for some and walking for others. A May 23 deadline allows families to express preferences, with a lottery if demand exceeds space.
