Jewelry salesmen robbed near Williamsburg on Highway 149
Two New York City jewelry salesmen, Aaron Rosen and Harris Baskin, were held up by three bandits three miles north of Williamsburg at 7 45 am while traveling highway 149 to Ottumwa. The robbers forced them to stop, stole jewel cases, punctured tires, and fled in a black Illinois plated Ford. The loss was estimated in the thousands as police broadcast warnings and investigate the daytime holdup. Baskin noted it was his sixth robbery in 20 years on the road.
