In Trenton New Jersey two ninth graders from St Hedwigs school were in the basement to fetch a typewriter when Edward Rubici 15 tapped a supposed empty one pound shell against a door post. The blast killed Edward and injured Raymond Wendzecky 15 who was struck by shrapnel. Both boys were described as in the ninth grade. Authorities say the shell was found on a dump and detonated during the mishap.
In Washington the House passed the $416,771,382 army appropriation bill for 1937 38 after Democratic opposition silenced attempts to cut the total. The coroner Linn county Big Knight examined the scene and the widow and seven children survive. Funeral arrangements are pending.
