Town hall on water and land funding in Cedar Rapids
The Iowa Water and Land Legacy Coalition hosts a noon town hall at Cedar Rapids Public Library and three other Iowa locations to discuss House File 597 proposing a gradual one-eighth cent sales tax increase for three years to fund the Iowa Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund. The plan, backed by Rep. Bobby Kaufmann and 12 Republicans, would direct at least 60 percent of annual funds to water quality research and aims to be tax neutral via income tax reductions and a water service excise tax.
