Chicago livestock market shows hogs up to 25 cents, steady to 15 cents higher on some classes, with sales activity mixed and grading slowing at close. Cattle and calves show gains with steer and heifer prices up to 50 cents, cows steady to 25 cents higher, and sheep trading uneven amid receipts around 6,000.
Des Moines reports pork receipts with estimated totals around 60 000 for the week and 57 500 a week earlier. Prices vary by weight class from 17 50 to 20 75 with top barrows and gilts listed in several weight bands.
Receipts total 15 000 calves 850 market for fed steers and heifers. Steers and heifers mixed with modest declines and steadier cows and bulls. Stockers and feeders slow. prime loads cited. Judge Charles Penningroth on Monday set aside two February 28 default judgments against John S. Beving.
