Linn Supervisors Grant 5172 Tax Relief For Cedar Rapids Man

The Linn County Supervisors approved 5172 in property tax relief for Jim Miller after a dispute over the reclassification of his 10 acre Edgewood Road NW property. Miller claimed the land was not his and had been wrongly taxed for 1983 and 1984 when assessed as commercial with streets and sewer, though the lot had none of those improvements. The board noted a likely error and set a precedent by granting relief despite advisory opinions on jurisdiction. Miller previously faced a tax jump from 116 to 5288 yearly and says notices were sent to old addresses. he now seeks rezoning to commercial status as a bowling center is planned on the site.
