Eastern Iowa Plastic Modelers honor Lippisch with May show
The Eastern Iowa Plastic Modelers club, rooted in Lippisch’s aerodynamics legacy, hosts a May 14 show at the Hiawatha Community Center. Members from Des Moines to Chicago will display and donate World War I to modern aircraft models to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City.

Battery Up fire safety visits planned in Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha
Red Cross volunteers and safety experts will visit homes in Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha to assist elderly disabled and low income residents with changing smoke detector batteries and other fire safety concerns. Battery Up in Cedar Rapids runs April 1 1 to 5 pm and April 2 8 am to noon. In Hiawatha it runs April 1 1 to 5 pm. Appointments are needed by today via Grant Wood Area Chapter at 319 393 3500.

Iowa study notes cancer deaths and screening guidance
The report estimates 15 800 new cancer cases and 6 500 deaths in Iowa in 2005. Prostate cancer deaths among men reach 30 percent. breast cancer deaths among women 23 percent. About 2 250 new breast cancer cases and 440 deaths expected in Iowa women, with overall screening discussions led by UI and medical groups.
