Market gains and mixed trading amid earnings and forecasts
Wall Street edged higher with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up modestly as advancers outnumbered decliners on the New York Stock Exchange. Traders awaited results and a government report while sectors such as oils, aircrafts, and tobacco led gains and other groups were mixed. Agricultural and livestock prices in Des Moines and Sioux City showed varied moves with hogs, calves, and lambs noting shifts, while regional indexes included farm equipment and chemicals hitting mixed trades. Local Iowa reports mention Marion budget talks, Linn-Mar events, and community notices.
