Dean Green Urges Roosevelt Plan For Fair Court
Northwestern University law dean Leon Green urged Congress to pass the Roosevelt court bill to create a “fair court” and faced sharp cross examination from the Senate Judiciary Committee. He warned the Supreme Court has shown intolerance to recent legislation and is used as a smoke screen by opponents of Roosevelt policies. Green said Congress may exercise remote control to shape a judiciary “more nearly sensitive to the day and the time.” Justices may testify on the plan if they wish, the committee chair said.
