Marion Imagine8 reaches 1000 ideas from students and residents
SinceJanuary 15 Marion launched Imagine8 to gather ideas for eight community improvements. Vernon Middle School and Francis Marion Intermediate students helped push the total past 1000 with proposals ranging from a recreational lake to a performing arts center and historic signage. Ideas remain welcome through March 27 at imagine8marion.org.

Iowa City Vehicle Burglaries Suspect Arrested
Jeremy A. Kuczynski 24 of Marion was arrested for first degree criminal mischief second degree theft third degree burglary and unauthorized use of a credit card. He admitted to burglarizing about 70 vehicles at The Lodge apartments and UI Hospitals ramps, taking over $1 000 in items and selling them. He also used a stolen card to rent 610 dollars in movies from Walmart and not return them.

Armed robberies hit Cedar Rapids in two hour span
Police investigated three separate armed incidents late Thursday. A Black male in all black with a mask robbed a Cedar Rapids McDonalds at 5725 Dry Creek Lane NE at 10:20 p.m., firing at least two rounds. No injuries. A pair of white males stole a wallet near 30th Street Drive SE about an hour earlier. A Black male in his 30s robbed near Wilson Avenue and 22nd Avenue SW at 10:44 p.m., fleeing on foot. Suspects not linked, K-9 search unsuccessful.

Iowa County probes two suspicious corncrib fires
Iowa County Sheriff Robert Rotter says authorities investigate two suspicious corncrib fires in rural Ladora and nearby, both in past weeks. The latest blaze at 4:30 a.m. on 220th Street destroyed an abandoned corncrib. the earlier fire occurred about two miles away. Fire marshal won’t investigate due to no major damage.
