Fire victim identified in Coralville mobile home blaze
The family confirms Joseph Leonard, 37, a Univer sity Hospitals service technician, died in the Western Hills Mobile Estates fire on 3701 Second St. Firefighters say investigation continues to determine the cause while witnesses linked fireworks to the scene. Leonard was described as quiet but friendly by neighbors.

Cedar Rapids man catches theft suspect after car break in
Chad Sundberg chased and detained Jeremiah Mundorf after he broke into Kathryn Turner's car parked at Motel 6 in southwest Cedar Rapids around 3 30 am. Items stolen from a residence at 400 27th Ave SE were found in Mundorf hotel room along with drug paraphernalia. Mundorf charged with third degree theft possession of drug paraphernalia and third degree burglary. He remained in Linn County Jail.

Storm system brings tornadoes and record 107 mph gust
A storm system crossed Missouri and Illinois bringing tornadoes and a 107 mph gust at Quad Cities Airport near Moline. Microburst damage west of the airport toppled trees and a hotel under construction while southern Minnesota saw nearly 7 inches of snow and hail in parts of Iowa. Cedar Rapids and Iowa City expect highs in the 40s then 30s with cooler lows, and another light system may bring snow late Wednesday north of Highway 30.

Coralville woman faces identity theft charges in new fraud case
Coralville police accuse 23 year old Leslie Ann Cady of using her grandmother’s name and Social Security number to obtain two credit cards and buy 17850.63 dollars in furniture and electronics between August and November. She turned herself in after her grandmother alerted authorities.
