The Iowa House approved Senate File 2330 to end TouchPlay slot machines, ordering removal from about 2,800 businesses within 45 days of enactment. A later 92-6 vote extended the removal deadline to September 1 and would tax post deadline revenues at 65 percent if a court allows continued operation. The measure moves to Gov. Vilsack while the extension awaits Senate consideration.
Christopher R. L. Blake, 45, named Mount Mercy College president, becoming the school’s eighth leader. Blake, born in England with Oxford degrees, will take office July 1, succeeding retiring president Robert Pearce.
