William Hunsacker, 48, of 226 Eighth Street NE, was fined $25 and costs for disturbing the peace.
Mercy hospital reports three births: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Swore at 813 B avenue NE welcomed a daughter on March 12, Mr. and Mrs. Sam David of 1627 Fifth avenue SE have a son born March 13, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lee of 209 K avenue NW welcomed a daughter born March 11.
Judge John T. Moffit grants a divorce between Rose Hare and Clifford L. Hare on cruel and inhuman treatment. Under a stipulation property rights are settled and their 111 year old daughter may divide time between her parents. They married April 7 1927 in Cedar Rapids.
At 3 24 p m Tuesday a paint explosion occurred at Happel and Son Implement Company 210 Second Avenue SW causing no damage and lasting 10 minutes with engine companies 2 5 and hook and ladder responding. At 6 26 p m a chimney fire struck the home of David Turner 301 Twenty third Street SE with small damage and lasting one hour seven minutes while still on alarm. At 8 01 a m Wednesday a defective sprinkler system hit La Plant Choate Company 25 minutes with engine companies 3 6 and hook and ladder responding.

The 30 day jail sentence for T. V. Hoagland of Cedar Rapids was suspended on the recommendation of Assistant County Attorney Carl Hendrickson. Hoagland had been arraigned in district court for larceny of gas from a gas meter and pled guilty to a related charge, which led to the dismissal of the original charge.
One man was killed and five others injured, four critically, in an ammonia explosion at Pioneer Ice in Council Bluffs. All victims were Central Ice Machine employees from Omaha. Kenneth Christie died. Joe Dragon John Ehlers Earl Tippery Roy Stevens burned. Frank Nemec saved several workers. The blast hit in the basement during coil revamping. cause is under investigation.
In Washington Vincent Harrington and H O Talle were the only Iowa representatives to oppose the navy expansion bill as the House passed it. All other Iowa members backed the measure.

Paul Stark names Henry Garretson as defendant in an injunction suit claiming Garretson阻ed his access to two children. The divorce decree of Aug 1 1939 assigned custody to Elizabeth Stark. Stark seeks temporary and permanent injunctions and custody modification. Hearings set for March 23.
Patricia Makinson tests on Wednesday before Judge John T. Moffit and a district court jury in an $8,500 personal injury suit arising from a collision on Highway 218 near North Liberty on Aug 17, 1939. The car owned by Howard Anker and driven by Don Olson collided with the defendant’s vehicle.Miss Makinson rode in the Anker car and the defendant denies responsibility.
Linn County supervisors on Tuesday placed on file without action a $79.90 sales tax statement from M. O. Weaver Inc of Des Moines. The firm says the tax was incurred under 1935 resurfacing contracts and county officials contend the tax was included in the contractor’s obligation.
George Wildeboer aged 42 was detained by Linn county officials on a Grundy county warrant for a false check utterance charge and released to the Grundy Center sheriff on Tuesday afternoon.

Grinnell College received a $557.05 default judgment from Judge J. E. Heiserman in a note case against Charles Thompson. The petition alleges the note was executed on February 1, 1937 and G. M. Wilson is confirmed as an executor.
