State board explains refusal to raise Linn County Roeder salary

King Palmer of the state social welfare board explains in a letter to Leon Peiffer why Linn County’s request to raise Joseph Roeder’s salary from 160 to 175 per month was denied. Palmer compares total county expenses and caseloads in nearby counties, noting Roeder’s pay is higher than three counties and lower than one, while Mrs. Mildred Hunt’s 185 monthly salary as welfare director remains unchanged. Peiffer plans further correspondence, saying other factors beyond caseloads influence the decision.
