U S steps up military action in Latin America

Washington officials disclosed intensified U S operations in Central America ahead of El Salvador’s March 25 elections. U S forces increased to 1700 in Honduras, began new small scale maneuvers in Honduras, and armed 52 trainers in El Salvador with lethal weapons to deter guerrillas and Sandinista forces.
