Lawsuit settled in Iowa City manslaughter case
The Skolnick family reaches a private settlement with driver Thomas Eldridge in the 2003 fatal SUV crash that killed Amanda Skolnick at Burlington and Linn streets. Eldridge pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and faces sentencing on April 20. the vehicle’s speed was about 12 to 14 mph.

Englert Theatre executive director to resign in April
Englert Theatre executive director Eric Kerchner will resign April 1, four months after the theater reopened following a $5 million renovation. Board president Mike Partridge said it was Kerchner’s decision and not a firing. Beth Bewley will serve as interim executive director as the group considers options for a permanent successor.
