Two Iowa National Guard soldiers recall 2nd Lt. Richard Brian Gienau as a great leader and friend as more than 100 guardsmen attend his funeral in Edar Falls. Gienau, 29, from Peoria Illinois, was killed by a bomb blast February 27 in Iraq.

Iowa Medicare drug card enrollment lags for seniors
After eight months, fewer than one in eight eligible Iowa seniors with disabilities has enrolled in the Medicare prescription drug card program. By late January only 49 000 of about 424 000 eligible residents had joined. about 19 000 receive a 600 subsidy while 77 000 remain eligible. Assistance lines and online resources are listed for help in selecting a card and applying before March 31.
