Deputy Ernest Blank and Turnkey Sam Cahoon face charges for failing to resist Dillinger's jailbreak and letting him arm himself after corraling guards into his cell. A statewide manhunt for Dillinger continued in Chicago with detectives canvassing the North Side.
The Iowa Senate approved the four percent beer bill 30 to 18, sending it back to the House with amendments. The measure raises beer from 3.2 to four percent alcohol by weight, permits outdoor advertising, relaxes iced beer rules, and changes sale limits while adding a not more than four percent alcohol by weight label.
