Miller seeks changes in Iowa pre need funeral law
Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller proposes revising the 1982 pre need funeral law to allow funeral homes to solicit pre need contracts, reduce trust requirements to 60 percent, raise merchandise trust to 110 percent of wholesale, shift oversight to the state insurance department, require annual contract reporting and a 50000 dollar bond, and define pre need services. Cemeteries and funeral groups dispute who protection serves and enforcement efficacy.
