Garnavillo standout Fiete headlines IDPA all state girls team

Sandra Fiete of Garnavillo led the first IDPA squad as the only sophomore among Iowa’s top 32 players. The Des Moines selection includes Lori Luther, Donna Lavender, Delores Kalteffieter, Catherine Hendrickson, Shirley Klinzman and others from Eastern Iowa on second third and fourth teams.

Three Coe Teams In Weekend Meets

Three Coe college teams are in action this weekend. The wrestling squad competes at the Midwest conference meet in Ripon. Four track athletes compete at the North Central Relays in Naperville Illinois. The rifle team shoots at the national intercollegiate meet in Madison Wisconsin. Big Ten Sets 1955 56 Schedules After Long Standoff

After ten months of wrangling the Big Ten coaches agreed on the 1955 and 1956 football schedules and ADs ordered basketball to a 14 game schedule. Iowa will play three home conferences in 1955 and two in 1956 while Michigan State and Iowa face Ohio State and Michigan in both years. Junior varsity play will be added with each school planning at least four games. Iowa 1955 games include Wisconsin Indiana Purdue Michigan Minnesota Ohio State with 1956 at Indiana Wisconsin Purdue Michigan Minnesota Ohio State dates to be finalized.
