OPA rewrites corn rules to curb grain diversions

The OPA announced immediate changes to corn and processed grain price controls aimed at restoring normal distribution by country elevators and carload sellers. Revisions cut ground corn ceilings about 1.90 a ton, cap base prices at producer maximums, and reduce merchandising markups. Retail sales are limited to 1000 pounds or less, limiting retail markup applicability. Markups on country shippers and merchandisers in small lots are lowered to reduce truck lot price advantages.
