House Prices Terrible Say Cedar Rapids Realtor

Naomi Doebel reports Cedar Rapids realtor John J. Wagner told a Coe College audience that current house prices are terrible with no justification beyond shelter needs. He warned relief from abnormal market prices is unlikely for five years and traced the shortage to 1929, a wartime building lull, and a postwar housing boom driven by veterans. Wagner urged buyers to consider site and neighborhood as well as the house, noting veterans may be the only buyers this year under the priorities plan.
