Transfers Allowed Between Districts With Conditions

Transfers are permitted to any school district for any reason, but districts may refuse new students if they lack staff or space. Home districts must cover state aid and property tax portions of each transfer student’s education costs. Receiving districts pay transportation for low income students. others cover their own. Districts may refuse transfers that would hinder desegregation efforts. High school transfer students cannot compete in interscholastic athletics for one year but may participate in practice.
