Pets and Disasters: Red Cross shelter pets program
March is American Red Cross month and Cedar Rapids partners Cedar Valley Humane Society created ALERT to house and care for pets at disaster shelters. ALERT volunteers transport and supervise pets until danger passes. Residents of Linn, Benton, Cedar, Delaware, Iowa Johnson, Jones counties are served. Call 861-3146 to volunteer or 362-6288 for information.
