Marion council eyed theater site for Urban Revitalization District
Marion City Council was told that by March 17 potential tenants for the Twix Town Theater site could be named. Davco Development plans a 100000 square foot complex if the site gains Urban Revitalization District status, with tax abatements and bonds possible. The district hinges on the area meeting two of three criteria, including deterioration and economic liability. Seventeen acres may be involved. parking on Seventh Avenue may be permanently redesigned after fewer accidents this year. A separate rezoning request for 1 acre at 10th Street and 29th Avenue to permit a convenience store near Linn Mar High School will be revisited Thursday after last December’s rejection sparked local opposition.
