Clarence Gift, 37, a lettuce field worker, sped back to California aboard a streamlined train as authorities resumed the search for the perpetrator of the 12 year old Carlisle Iowa straw stack murder. He was arrested in Salinas California on information from his estranged wife who claimed Gift boasted of slaying a girl near Des Moines and burning her body in a straw stack.
