Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Victory with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service. He was born October 18 1931 in Davenport to Francis Denis and Isabel Lane Maher and married Marlene A. McDermott on August 7 1954 in Dubuque. Memorials may go to the William L Maher Scholarship Fund at John Kennedy and Assumption High Schools. He is survived by daughters Mary Michon Tillberg and Carol Maher and Erin Jane Salvador and husband Doug, a son William F. Maher, five grandchildren, sister Gloria Fagan, and brothers Denis, Richard, and James Maher plus a sister-in-law and family. His wife, parents and a brother preceded him in death.
